The Development of a Teaching and Learning Model to Foster Creativity for the 2nd Year Elementary School Students under the Local Administration Organization

Abstract
The research article included the following objectives: 1) to investigate the current problems and needs with regard to teaching and learning to foster creativity in the arts for the second-year elementary school students; and 2) to develop a teaching and learning model to foster creativity in the arts for the second-year elementary school students under the framework of the local administrative organization. The target group included 29 art teachers from schools under the local administrative organization in Ubon Ratchathaini Province, selected through purposive sampling, to test the congruence of a teaching and learning model. The instruments for the study were a questionnaire and a goodness-of-fit test. The statistics used were percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
According to the results of the study, a teaching and learning model that fosters creative thinking is a model that is systematically based on creativity, art and multisensory learning. The model consists of six components: 1) principles; 2) objectives; 3) content; 4) teaching and learning methods, which are divided into five steps, namely (1) building experiences, i.e. learning activities that involve the simultaneous connection of sensory channels through multiple senses, such as seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching, (2) alignment of ideas, (3) creation, which includes initiation, active thinking, and flexible thinking, (4) co-presentation, (5) critique and reflection, and (6) practice and development; 5) learning media and sources; and 6) measurement and evaluation. The model is referred to as the “ECCPRD teaching and learning model”.
