Abstract

This research article aims to: (1) examine differences in the perceived value of volunteer service based on volunteers’ personal characteristics, namely gender, age, education level, occupation, and average monthly income; (2) investigate differences in five factors affecting the value of volunteer service, including information received, service delivery, convenience of service, service providers’ personality, coordination in service, and service efficiency; and (3) identify problems and provide recommendations regarding the value of volunteer service at Siriraj Hospital. This study employed a quantitative research approach. The sample consisted of 367 service users at Siriraj Hospital, with the sample size determined based on the Krejcie and Morgan table and selected using convenience sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, as well as t-test and One-way ANOVA.

The findings revealed that: (1) the overall perceived value of volunteer service across different demographic characteristics (gender, age, education level, occupation, and income) was at a high level (equation = 3.82). Among the dimensions, service providers’ personality was rated the highest, followed by service convenience, information received, service coordination, and service efficiency, respectively; (2) there were no statistically significant differences in the perceived value of volunteer service when analyzed by personal factors of respondents (p > .05); and (3) the main problems identified were related to communication, skill readiness, and coordination. The study recommends enhancing volunteers’ capacity, improving communication systems, and strengthening collaboration with medical personnel to increase service efficiency.
