The Selection of Undergraduate Programs among Students of the School of Culinary Arts, Suan Dusit University

Abstract
This research aimed to: (1) examine the personal factors influencing students’ enrollment at the School of Culinary Arts, Suan Dusit University; (2) examine students’ decisions regarding undergraduate program selection at the School of Culinary Arts, Suan Dusit University; and (3) compare the level of importance attached to undergraduate program selection based on personal factors. The sample consisted of 196 first-year undergraduate students at the School of Culinary Arts, Suan Dusit University, during the first semester of the academic year 2025. A questionnaire was used as the research instrument. The statistical methods used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance.
The findings revealed that: (1) the majority of students who enrolled in the School of Culinary Arts, Suan Dusit University were female (59.69%), aged 18 years (51.53%), enrolled in the Culinary Technology and Service Program in Bangkok (48.47%), and residing in Bangkok and its vicinity (34.18%). Most parents were engaged in trade or private business (39.29%), and the largest proportion of students received a monthly allowance from their parents 2,001 - 4,000 baht (31.12%); (2) Students placed a high level of importance on undergraduate program selection at the School of Culinary Arts, Suan Dusit University, with an overall mean score of 4.31. When analyzed by aspect, all factors were rated at a high level as follows: instructors, curriculum and instructional management, location, and total program costs; and (3) Academic program and monthly allowance from parents had a significant effect on undergraduate program selection at the School of Culinary Arts, Suan Dusit University. However, gender, age, domicile, and parents’ occupation showed no statistically significant differences in undergraduate program selection at the .05 level.
