Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed to 1) examine the personal factors of students enrolled in the short-term vocational program in Home Economics at Phuket Polytechnic College, 2) study their decision to enroll in the program, and 3) compare the importance of personal factors with their enrollment decisions. The sample consisted of 230 learners enrolled in the 75-hour short-term Home Economics program from June to September 2025. A questionnaire was used for data collection. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and One-way ANOVA. When statistically significant differences at the .05 level were found, pairwise mean comparisons were conducted using the LSD method.
The research findings revealed that: 1) The majority of the learners were female (78.3%), aged over 29 years (74.3%). Most of them held a bachelor’s degree (50.9%), were self-employed (27.8%), and had an average monthly income of more than 15,000 baht (52.6%). Most respondents chose to enroll in the general home economics program (40.4%), and 41.3% had previously completed at least one short-term vocational course. 2) The learners enrolled in short-term vocational courses in the Home Economics field at Phuket Polytechnical College expressed a high overall level of opinion toward their course selection ( = 4.47, S.D. = 0.45). Among the factors, the instructor dimension received the highest mean score, followed by the curriculum and course title. The factor with the lowest mean score was the total cost of the short-term vocational course. 3) The comparative analysis indicated that gender, age, educational level, occupation, average monthly income, and the field of study selected had statistically significant effects on course selection at the 0.05 level. In contrast, the number of short-term courses previously taken per month showed no statistically significant difference at the 0.05 level.
