A Model for Developing Digital Leadership of Teachers in Social 5.0 of Secondary Schools in the Northeastern Region

Abstract

This research article aimed to: 1) investigate the components and needs of teachers’ digital leadership in Society 5.0; 2) develop a model for enhancing teachers’ digital leadership; and 3) implement the developed model and evaluate its effectiveness. The study employed a research and development (R&D) methodology. The research instruments used for data collection consisted of an interview protocol; a questionnaire on teachers’ digital leadership in Society 5.0, which had a content validity index (IOC) ranging from 0.80 to 1.00, with reliability coefficients of 0.99 and 0.98 for the actual and desired conditions, respectively; and an assessment form of teachers’ digital leadership in Society 5.0, which had a content validity index (IOC) ranging from 0.80 to 1.00. The statistics used for data analysis included percentage, mean, and standard deviation.


The findings were as follows: 1) The current overall condition is at a high level (equation = 4.18), while the overall desired condition is at the highest level (equation = 4.60). The components are arranged according to the priority of needs, from the highest to the lowest, as follows:  (1) digital adaptability, (2) digital literacy and skills, (3) innovative digital learning management, (4) digital vision, (5) learner development for Society 5.0, and 6) digital ethics and responsibility. 2) The model for Developing Digital Leadership of Teachers in Social 5.0 of Secondary Schools in the Northeastern Region consists of: (1) principles, (2) objectives, (3) development content, (4) development process, and (5) measurement and evaluation. 3) The study on the effectiveness of a model for Developing Digital Leadership of Teachers in Social 5.0 of Secondary Schools in the Northeastern Region, found that during the phase of authentic practice and the use of an after-action review, the digital leadership of teachers in Social 5.0 showed continuous development. Specifically, the average score from the seventh evaluation was rated as excellent, with a progress rate of 66.12%.
