Guidelines for Developing a Peace Studies Curriculum in the Multicultural Context of Thailand's Three Southern Border Provinces

Abstract
The southern border provinces of Thailand, namely Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, are areas characterized by religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity. This diversity has presented ongoing challenges in the form of long-standing conflicts. Developing a peace studies curriculum in this context is a crucial strategy for fostering mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence, and reducing violence. This article aims to propose guidelines for developing a peace education curriculum that aligns with the multicultural context of the region through an analysis of documents, research studies, and educational management theories. The study presents three key approaches: (1) developing the curriculum with the active participation of all stakeholders, (2) integrating knowledge of peace education with local culture and religious teachings, and (3) establishing an evaluation system that reflects the community’s peace outcomes. The expected result is the creation of a sustainable and harmonious society founded on peace and mutual respect.
