Development of a Participation Model for Early Childhood Caregivers in Educational Institutions in Lopburi Province to Enhance Early Childhood Development

Abstract

This research is an experimental research. The objectives are 1) to develop a model for early childhood caregivers participation in educational institutions in Lopburi Province that affects early childhood development and 2) to enhance early childhood development from early childhood caregivers participation in educational institutions in Lopburi Province. The respondents in this research were 165 people, consisting of teachers, parents/caregivers, divided into 77 experimental groups and 79 control groups. Focus group discussion with 9 representatives of groups involved in early childhood care. The developmental level of early childhood children was measured from the experimental and control schools. Data were analyzed using means and standard deviation. The differences in the developmental levels of early childhood children between the experimental and control groups were tested by finding the difference value using t-test statistics.


The research results found that 1) opinions on creating a participation model for early childhood caregivers in educational institutions were highest level (μ = 4.59, σ = 0.464) in terms of participation in benefits, participation in operations, participation in evaluation, and participation in decision-making, respectively. The participatory model in early childhood care includes planning, coordination, monitoring, organization and implementation. 2) The developmental level of early childhood children from using the participation model of early childhood caregivers in educational institutions is different, with the experimental group being higher than the control group. The mean difference was 0.395, which was statistically significant at the .05 level. The development level of early childhood children between the experimental and control groups was different. t-test = 16.394, df = 4, and Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000.
