Abstract

This research article aimed at the following objectives: 1) to analyze the implementation of measures promoting environmentally friendly jewelry production; 2) to examine the problems and obstacles in producing eco-friendly jewelry products; and 3) to propose guidelines for implementing measures to promote environmentally friendly jewelry production. This qualitative research collected data from 26 key informants from the jewelry industry, including representatives from the public sector, private sector, and academia, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed using descriptive summarization.

The findings revealed that: 1) Thailand has established environmental policies at the national strategic and development plan levels and has promoted the concept of a circular economy. However, specific measures targeting jewelry entrepreneurs, particularly SMEs, are still lacking. Many small enterprises face limited access to green financing and knowledge on sustainable production. While some larger producers have adopted recycled materials, Eco-Design concepts, environmentally friendly transportation, and packaging, smaller businesses continue to face technological, logistical, and capacity constraints; 2) Key problems and obstacles include difficulties in accessing sustainable raw materials, unclear certification systems, and the high costs associated with transitioning to green processes; and 3) Proposed guidelines include tax incentives, support for technology adoption, development of production networks, and the creation of green market platforms, under integrated collaboration from all relevant sectors.
