Organizational Engagement among Staff and Students of the Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University

Abstract

This research study aimed to 1) Explore the level of organizational engagement among staff members at the Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University. 2) Investigate the related factors of organizational engagement among staff members at the Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University. 3) Explore the level of organizational engagement among undergraduate students at the Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University. and 4) Investigate the related factors of organizational engagement among undergraduate students at the Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University. This study is a quantitative survey research. The sample consisted of 60 staff members from three campuses Rangsit, Lampang, and Tha Prachan and 315 undergraduate students from the same campuses, totaling 375 participants. The research tool was a questionnaire, which underwent content validity verification by five experts to conduct the Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) assessment. The reliability of the research tool was also examined. The questionnaire for the Faculty of Social Administration staff yielded a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.77, while the questionnaire for the Faculty of Social Administration students showed a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.82. The sample selection involved calculating representative sample sizes based on the total number of staff and students. The sampling method employed was random sampling using the Taro Yamane formula to determine the minimum sample size for each group proportionally. The statistics that used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. For hypothesis testing, Independent T-test, One-Way ANOVA, and Pearson Correlation were applied to examine the relationships between independent variables (general information and factors affecting organizational engagement) and dependent variables (organizational engagement of staff and students in the Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University).


The results showed that 1) The staff of the Faculty of Social Administration is bound with the organization in high level, with an average score of 4.08. 2) The most influential related factors of organizational engagement among staff members at the Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University, was autonomy in work performance, with an average score of 4.31. 3) Undergraduate students at the Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University, also showed a high level of organizational engagement, with an average score of 3.86. 4) The most influential related factors of organizational engagement among students was social support from peers, with an average score of 4.16.
