Abstract

This research aims to: 1) Study the water situation, problems, and impacts in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province; 2) Examine the water management processes in local communities within the province; and 3) Enhance and build networks for sustainable water management in the area. This qualitative research employs an action research approach, involving 15 participants, including local government officials, community leaders, residents, water experts, and government representatives. The primary tool for data collection was in-depth interviews, with data analyzed through descriptive analysis.

The findings revealed: 1) The water situation and impacts in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province show that floods are caused by both natural and management-related factors. Natural factors include prolonged heavy rainfall, the low-lying geography of the area, and clogged drainage systems. Management-related factors include ineffective water management plans, land use policies, and flood prevention measures. Direct impacts of the floods include damage to buildings, homes, infrastructure, and threats to human and animal lives. Public utilities and transportation networks were also affected. Local government agencies and the community collaborated to develop flood mitigation strategies to prepare for future emergencies. 2. In terms of community water management, the study found several key steps: surveying and collecting water usage data, analyzing problem trends, establishing water management principles, creating community water committees, training community members, and promoting efficient water use. Wastewater management and community water planning were also important aspects. 3.To improve community water management, the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) technique was applied. This includes reducing water usage, reusing water, and treating wastewater for reuse. Additionally, creating collaborative networks between the government, private sector, and community is crucial for developing sustainable water management practices in various areas.
