Organization Communication Skills Based on Buddhist Peace Means

Abstract

This research article aims to study communication as a tool for conveying experiences, knowledge, feelings, opinions, and needs from the sender to the receiver through various appropriate and necessary media. The objective is to achieve mutual understanding between the sender and receiver, along with reciprocal responses. The context of communication is of paramount importance, as an appropriate context facilitates effective transmission and reception of messages. Communication is one of the fundamental means by which humans enhance mutual understanding, involving verbal expression as well as nonverbal cues such as facial expressions, eye contact, and gestures, all of which also constitute forms of communication. Moreover, applying Buddhist principles to communication can further enhance its effectiveness. Through the wisdom of the Buddha, who comprehensively understood communication theory, especially in the context of propagating Buddhism, the components of communication can be thoroughly analyzed. Buddhist methods of communication correspond with the fundamental elements of communication theory. The principles of Buddhist peaceful means employed in personnel communication include: The Four Principles of Service (Sagahavatthu), which is regarded as binding agents that unite individuals and foster harmony within groups; The Four Noble Truths (Ariyasacca), which is regarded as supreme truths that transform those who comprehend them into noble beings; The Four Foundations of Development (Bhāvanā), which is seen as processes of growth, cultivation, and development towards inner peace within organizations and companies; and The practice of communication among personnel according to Buddhist principles, where facilitators promote collective thinking, joint decision-making, and teamwork to develop personnel towards peace in accordance with the Seven Practices of Moral Conduct (Aparihāniyadhamma).
