Abstract

This research, titled "Improving the Product Quality of Fabrics Dyed with Natural Dyes Using the Cultural Capital of Ethnic Groups in Takhian Pom Sub-district, Thung Hua Chang District, Lamphun Province," has three main objectives: 1) To design the fabric products dyed with natural dyes incorporating the cultural capital of ethnic groups in Takhian Pom Sub-district, Thung Hua Chang District, Lamphun Province; 2) To develop a marketing mechanism for these naturally dyed fabric products by using the cultural capital of ethnic group; and 3) To transfer the knowledge and create a learning network about fabric dyeing with natural dyes within the community. The action research employs both qualitative and action research methods. The population for the study comprises three villages: Ban Mai Sali, Ban Mae Samae, and Ban Huai Rai. A purposive sampling method was used to select 72 people from Ban Mai Sali, 70people from Ban Mae Samae, and 90 people from Ban Huai Rai, totaling 232 participants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews which used was an interview form and analyzed using content analysis.


The research findings are 1) the design of fabric products dyed with natural dyes leverages the cultural capital and identity of ethnic groups in Takhian Pom Sub-district. This includes integrating traditional colors and patterns into clothing designs and embellishing fabrics with millet in various patterns that reflect the community beliefs, 2) the development of a marketing mechanism for naturally dyed fabric products which focuses on meeting customer needs, differentiating products, ensuring quality production, and implementing systematic production planning, and 3) knowledge transfer activities involve educating participants about natural dyeing techniques. This effort includes collaboration with Lamphun Sangha college students, government agencies, and local people. The network creation involves agreements with seven organizations:Lamphun Buddhist College, Hariphunchai Research Institute, Takhian Pom Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Ban Mai Takhian School, Council of Cultural Affairs in Takhian Pom Subdistrict and Thung Hua Chang District, and community enterprises in Takhian Pom Sub-district.
