Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate the factors and indicators for local wisdom management; 2) to explore the current and desirable conditions, as well as the needs for local wisdom management in schools; 3) to create a model for local wisdom management in schools; and 4) to study and experiment a model for local wisdom management in schools. The study was divided into four phases: 1) Phase 1 was an investigation of factors and indicators, consisting of two steps: (1) exploring related concepts and theories and (2) interviewing seven experts. The tool utilized was an interview form, and seven experts confirmed the factors and indications. The instrument utilized was an evaluation form; 2) Phase 2 involved an examination of current and desired conditions, as well as needs. The sample group consisted of 319 persons. The instrument employed was a questionnaire with a reliability of 0.98; 3) Phase 3 involved the construction of a model in two steps, (1) developing a model through a focus group discussion with nine specialists. The tool used was the discussion record and a model was assessed by 7 experts. The instrument employed was an assessment form, and 4) Phase 4 involved experimenting with a model. The instruments employed were a form for assessing model use, a form for assessing the instructional book, and a satisfaction assessment form. The following statistics were used for data analysis: percentage, mean, standard deviation, priority needs index (PNI), and t-test.


From the study, the following results were found: 1) Local wisdom management in schools consists of 55 factors and 35 indicators. All of which are overall and in each aspect, at the highest level (equation = 4.93, S.D. = 0.07); 2) The current conditions are moderate overall and in every aspect (equation = 3.29, S.D. = 0.71). The desirable conditions are at the highest level in all aspects and overall (equation = 4.65, S.D. = 0.35). The modified priority needs index (PNI) ranges from 0.34 to 0.51; 3) A model for local wisdom management in schools known as "KATAAD" has 5 parts: (1) knowledge management of local wisdom (K), (2) acquisition of local wisdom (A), (3) transfer of local wisdom (T), (4) application of local wisdom (A), and (5) development of local wisdom (D). A model for local wisdom management in schools consists of 6 factors: (1) principles, (2) objectives, (3) content, (4) methods, which include five activities: investigating local wisdom; looking for old things; telling the good things; preparing for implementation; and planning for future development. The model has the highest level of propriety, feasibility, and utility (equation = 4.60, S.D. = 0.40); and 4) After experimenting with a model, it was discovered that a posttest outperformed a pretest with a statistical significance of 0.05. The instructional book was of propriety, and the level of satisfaction was at the highest.
