Abstract

The purpose of this research article was to present an effective participatory academic administration model for charity schools of Buddhist temples in the Northeast by using a mixed research method in 4 phases. The target group included administrators, school committees, and academic teachers in 3 leading charity schools of Buddhist temples, in a total of 45 monks/people. The research tools were: 1) a questionnaire with a 5-point rating scale; 2) a structured interview; and 3) a model evaluation form. The statistics used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.

The results of this research revealed that an effective participatory academic administration model for charity schools of Buddhist temples in the Northeast has 5 elements:
1) principles of the model; 2) objectives of the model; 3) operation methods of the model;
4) evaluation of the mode; and 5) conditions for the success of the model. The overall results of the model evaluation were of propriety at a high level and of feasibility at the highest level. The overall results of the assessment of the propriety, feasibility, and utility of the model were rated at the highest level.
