Factors Predicting the Use of Chauffeur Service to Reduce a Drink-Driving Behavior in Bangkok
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research on factors predicting the use of chauffeur service to reduce drink-driving behavior in Bangkok aimed to: 1) explore the predictive factors influencing the use of chauffeur service to reduce the problem of drink driving in Bangkok, and 2) investigate the effects arising from using chauffeur service in Bangkok. The study employed quantitative research method. The data were collected from online questionnaire, which consisted of 5 parts as follows: 1) personal data and drinking behavior (26 items), 2) service expectations factors (21 items), 3) social and cultural factors (12 items), 4) psychological factors (12 items), and 5) decisions to use chauffeur service (2 items). Accidental sampling was used with a total of 286 participants. Data were analyzed using the logistic regression equation.
The findings revealed that 1) Service expectations and social and cultural factors influence decisions to use chauffeur service. If an alcoholic had a 1 unit increase in their service expectations, they were 1.016 times more likely to decide to use a chauffeur than an alcoholic who decided not to use chauffeur service. If alcohol drinkers were given one more social and cultural factor, they were 5.135 times more likely to decide to use chauffeur service than an alcoholic who decided not to use chauffeur service. The logistic regression equation was able to predict the decision to use the chauffeur service with an accuracy of 84.9 percent as follows: = -3.411 + .021 Age + .000 Economic status - .165 Drinking quantity - .154 Drinking place + .016* Service Provider Service Expectations Provided + 1.636** Social and Cultural Factors - .537 Psychological Factors; and 2) As a result of using a driver service in Bangkok, it was found that most drinking behaviors were not different (70.9%).
The research recommendations were: 1) The chauffeur service should be promoted and developed for more users; and 2) Increasing the area of service to reduce drink-driving behavior and reduce accidents and losses from drink driving.
