Abstract

The principles of democracy adhere to governance principles that are suitable for the social conditions, lives, rights, and freedoms of the people, ensuring the acceptance of the democratic political and administrative system and the ability to effect social change. The objectives of this study are to analyze integrated democratic leadership among youth in Ubon Ratchathani Province and to investigate guidelines for the development and enhancement of this integrated democratic leadership, focusing on three key aspects: responsible citizenship, participatory citizenship, and fairness-focused citizenship. In Phase 1 of the study, data was collected from a sample group comprising 374 secondary school students from 41 educational institutions in the Mueang District, Ubon Ratchathani Province, through questionnaires and interview forms. Data analysis encompassed percentage calculations, mean determination, and standard deviation computation. Subsequently, in Phase 2, a purposefully selected group of 15 individuals, including experts, teachers, stakeholders, and youth, was engaged in identifying guidelines to fortify integrated democratic leadership among youth in Ubon Ratchathani Province. Data collection for this phase was conducted through in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed using content analysis, grouping data, selecting data with the highest frequency of recurrence, and writing descriptive narratives.

The research results indicated that youth perceptions of integrated democratic leadership in Ubon Ratchathani Province generally exhibit a high level of endorsement across all three aspects. When evaluating these aspects based on mean scores, the order of importance is delineated as follows: responsible citizenship, participatory citizenship, and fairness-focused citizenship. As for the development guidelines, they include: 1) Responsible citizens, where youth should be trained to be diligent students and obedient children, following the guidance of their parents; 2) Participatory citizenship, involving the cultivation of a sense of public-mindedness and a willingness to sacrifice personal interests for the common good; and 3) Fairness-focused citizenship, emphasizing values of honesty and discouraging engagement in any form of misconduct.
