Abstract

The research article aimed at presenting a model for enhancing the stability of inexperienced parents based on Buddhist culture and local wisdom. The study was action research and was conducted by employing an in-depth interview with key informants who were 17 experts, by means of semi-structured interview with the validity of individual item and content validity index that had a value of 1, together with a focus group discussion with 9 persons by using the focus group record. The acquired data were studied by content analysis and presented in a descriptive method. The research results revealed that in order to build a warm and strong family, a model for enhancing the stability for inexperienced parents based on the Buddhist culture and local wisdom required the couple to follow the principle on Samajīvidhamma (the four qualities which make a couple well matched) as follows: 1) to be matched in faith and attitude; 2) to be matched in moral conduct; 3) to be matched in generosity and sacrifice; and 4) to be matched in wisdom and reasons. Initially, the couple must observe the 5 percepts as the fundamental and treated each other wholesomely in the following 3 aspects: 1) bodily action; 2) verbal action; and 3) mental actions.
