Factors Influencing the Development of Sustainable Restaurant in Thailand

Abstract
The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study the current state of transformational leadership, components related to operations within the organization, the quality of the restaurants, strategies for competitive advantage, the government policy, and the success in sustainable Thai restaurant business development; 2) to study factors influencing the success in sustainable Thai restaurant business development; and 3) to study a model and guideline in sustainable Thai restaurant business development. The study employed a mixed-method between qualitative and quantitative research. The sample group included 800 Thai restaurant entrepreneurs in the central-western region of Thailand from 8 provinces. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, average, standard deviation (S.D.), and statistical hypothesis testing. The research results were as follows: 1) From studying the transformational leadership, components related to operations within the organization, the quality of the restaurants, strategies for competitive advantage, the government policy formulation, and the success in sustainable Thai restaurant business development, it was found that the overall opinion was at a high level; 2) From studying the factors influencing the success in sustainable Thai restaurant business development, it was found to depend on the components related to operations within the organization, strategies for competitive advantage, the quality of the restaurants, the transformational leadership, and the government policy formulation; and 3) From studying a model and guideline in sustainable Thai restaurant business development, it was found that the overall aspect that had the most influence was the transformational leadership, followed by the government policy formulation, the quality of the restaurants, the components related to operations within the organization, and strategies for competitive advantage. When considering the factors affecting directly the success in sustainable Thai restaurant business development, it was found that transformational leadership had the most direct influence on the success.
