The Development of Characteristics, Indicators and Moral Identity Assessment Scale for Students under Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization

Abstract
The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to develop the characteristic and indicators of moral identity for students under Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization; 2) to develop the moral identity assessment scale for students under Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization; 3) to try out the assessment scale for examining the structural validity of the characteristics and indicators of moral identity; and 4) to study the moral level of students under Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization. A sample group consisted of 5,944 students from the 1st – 6th secondary school of schools under Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, by means of stratified random sampling. The research instrument was the survey questionnaire with the 4-point Likert rating scales. The acquired data were analyzed by using percentage and confirmatory factor analysis. The research results revealed as follows: 1) From studying the characteristics and indicators of moral identity for students under Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, it was found that there were 3 characteristics and 19 indicators: honesty had 6 indicators, responsibility had 7 indicators, and volunteer spirit had 6 indicators. All of the indicators were feasible in practice; 2) The development of moral identity assessment scale for students resulted in the assessment scale indicating 4 levels of behavior with the inter-rater reliability of 0.984; 3) The confirmation analysis results found that the model corresponded to the empirical data (Chi-Square = 25.09, df = 18, p = .12, GFI=.999, AGFI=.996, RMR=.000, RMSEA=.008); and 4) The results of the moral identity level assessment of students revealed that students had a moral identity as a high level by which the volunteer mind was at the highest, followed by honesty and responsibility, respectively.
