The Development of Propagation Strategy for Thai Buddhist Monks in Germany by Buddhist Education Administration

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the status of Buddhist propagation of Thai Buddhist monks in Germany, to develop Buddhist propagation strategy of Thai Buddhist monks in Germany based on Buddhist Education Administration, and to propose the Buddhist propagation strategy of Thai Buddhist monks in Germany based on Buddhist Education Administration. The mixed research methods were used in the study through document analysis, structure and semi-structured in-depth interview, focus group discussions and questionnaires.


      The findings showed that:


  1. The status of Buddhist propagation in Germany; researches and evaluations on Buddhist propagation have not been done for propagation methods, target people and social conditions, people lack of basic understanding in Buddhism, the Thai-German born pay less attention to Buddhism, and Thai Buddhist monks’ propagation does not touch the interest of Thai national majority.

  2. The development of Buddhist propagation strategy of Thai Buddhist monks in Germany consists of 3 strategies; Mission, Vision and Target. Buddhist propagation strategy consists of 7 factors; Planning, Manning, Directing, Budgeting, Working, Managing, and Coordinating.

  3. The Buddhist propagation strategy of Thai Buddhist monks in Germany by Buddhist Education Administration consists of 3 main components; 1. Leading consists of 1) mission, knowledge, skills, and ability, 2) vision, and 3) target. 2. Body or content consists of system concluded into “PHDBOON STRATEGY”, and Management process. 3) Application steps consists of structure, decision making and evaluation guidelines.
