Needs of Using Selective Dissemination of Information Service for Academic Library Users Using QR Code Technology

The purposes of this research were to study the needs of using Selective Dissemination of Information Service for Academic Library Users using QR Code Technology. A questionnaire with sample population of 301 lecturers in Mahasarakham University was used as the research instrument. The results of the research found that most users required the use of Selective Dissemination of Information Service by applying QR Code (87.50%) with two types of ways as follows: 1) 70.98% of the users wanted to use the electronic information resources and 2) 76.34% of the users wanted to receive the information directly. 24.10% of the users also required the ways to communicate with librarian via email. Furthermore, 33.98% and 71.43% of the users agreed that library's information was required to be sent by period, as per month and per semester respectively. Next, it was found that there were three forms of access by QR Code as follows: 1) the users access information of content of new books suggestion by QR Code in high level ( = 4.10), 2) the same level goes to access format of information of new books suggestion from website by QR Code in high level ( = 4.10), and 3) the users access type of information of new books suggestion from
e-Theses by QR Code in high level ( = 4.35).
