Development and Evaluation of the Quality of an Information System for Traditional Textiles in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Purpose: To develop an information system for traditional textiles in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province and to evaluate its quality and user satisfaction.
Methodology: This research utilizes a Research and Development (R&D) model to develop an information system for managing traditional textile data in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The system is developed as a web application using PHP and a MySQL database, employing the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process, which comprises four steps: 1) System requirements analysis, 2) System design, 3) System development, and 4) System testing. System quality evaluation is based on the ISO/IEC 25010 international standard. The participants consisted of five information technology experts who evaluated the system quality, and 40 general users who evaluated their satisfaction with the system.
Finding: The development of an information system for traditional textiles in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province resulted in a web-based system capable of managing data on indigenous fabrics and allowing users to easily search for related information on indigenous fabric products in a user-friendly format. The system quality evaluation showed that functional suitability yielded the highest rating (=4.72, S.D.=0.49). The performance efficiency also yielded the highest rating (=4.60, S.D.=0.53), indicating a very good level of performance. The security yielded a high rating (=4.50, S.D.=0.55). The reliability also yielded positive results, at the highest level (=4.54, S.D.=0.55), while system usability were at a high level (= 4.34, S.D. = 0.66). In terms of user satisfaction (usability), the evaluation results were at a high level (= 4.35, S.D. = 0.66).
Applications of this study: This developed information system can be applied to manage other types of local wisdom for conservation purposes, such as niello ware, rattan products, and shadow puppetry. It can also be used to manage local wisdom data from other provinces.
