ARUIANA Model: Integrating the Social Thought of Karl Marx and Buddhadasa Bhikkhu to Develop a Conceptual Framework for Managing Social Conflict
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aims: 1) to study social conflict from the perspectives of Karl Marx and Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, 2) to sysnthesize a conceptual framework for managing social conflict among low-income individuals based on the social philosophies of Karl Marx and Buddhadasa Bhikkhu. The study found that, according to Karl Marx’s theory of communist socialism, conflict is a class problem, managed through the allocation of material resources. However, according to Buddhadasa Bhikkhu’s theory of dhammic socialism, conflict is a personal problem, managed through the reduction of selfishness and individual attachment.
The ARUIANA Model is a conceptual framework for managing social conflict that integrates the strengths of both concepts, both material and spiritual, to manage social conflicts related to poverty by promoting personal potential development processes to enhance low-income individuals’ potential and enable them to rely on themselves with dignity.
