Remembering Rajabhat Korat’s 100th Anniversary in Honor of His Majesty the King: Cultural Innovation Development Enhancing Historical Values

Abstract

Cultural innovation serves as a multidimensional means of communication. This study aims to develop cultural innovations that enhance historical values in the celebration of Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University's 100th anniversary. A qualitative research method was employed. The instruments used were academic document reviews, interviews, and focus group discussions. Data was analyzed using content analysis with principles of creative research, expert evaluations, convey information, and publications.
The research findings reveal that the development of Nakhon Ratchasima Rajabhat University can be divided into five phases. The creative process in performing arts titled “Remembering Rajabhat Korat’s 100th Anniversary in Honor of His Majesty the King” involves seven components of cultural innovation, consisting of: 1) Performance format divided into three sections: Section 1 - The Birth of the 100th Anniversary; Section 2 - Identity; Section 3 - The People of the King, the Serve of the Nation. 2) Movements design is based on traditional Korat folk dance movements, Isan folk dance, and Thai classical dance. 3) Costume design uses a blend of traditional Korat styles and classical dance, emphasizing the use of green and yellow, which are the university's colors. 4) Performance music utilizes an adapted format of Korat folk music. 5) Performance area features various formations. 6) Performance props include bouquets of golden shower flowers (Cassia fistula) to symbolize the University. 7) Selection of performers involves 10 skillful females in Thai classical dance and folk dance. Furthermore, this creative work was evaluated by 24 experts with an average score of 4.70.
