Guidelines for Conserving and Creating Lyrics and Dancing of Ramtone Nokphithid Dancing to Promote Community-Based Tourism

Abstract

This research has objectives which are 1) to study the need of tourists and communities regarding Ramtone Nokphithid Dancing, 2) to search for ways to conserve and create Ramtone Nokphithid Dancing to promote community-based tourism. The researcher used qualitative research methods by in-depth interview of overnight tourists in the area with accidental sampling. These tourists consist of 22 people. The researcher also used observation without participation about behavior of tourists who watched Ramtone Nokphithid Dancing. In addition, there was focus group with key informants. The 10 samples were selected; they come from 3 groups which are community leaders, community enterprises in tourism and the scholars in Ramtone Nokphithid Dancing. The result of the research showed that performance style; the lyric, dance, rhythm and costume, including the duration of the performance is appropriate. However, they should have middle age group and youth group participating in the performance. It will make tourist excited and inherit in both groups. In addition, there should be additional lyrics relating to the history of Ramtone Nokphithid Dancing, nature and community way of life in the area and tourist attractions. For the conservation and creation of lyric and dance of Ramtone Nokphithid Dancing, the community agreed to organize a creative workshop Ramtone Nokphithid Dancing to promote community tourism. There were 5 origin songs and 3 new songs from this workshop; the History of Ramtone Nokphithid Dancing Song, Pra Jungle Song and Travelling at Krung Ching Song.
