Abstract

This article is part of a thesis entitled "A Comparative Study of Thai Molam and Chinese Molan Performing Arts." The objective of this qualitative study is to compare the characteristics between Thai Molam Klon and Chinese Traditional Molan Performing Arts. The Thai Molam Klon’s areas of study were in Mahasalakham, Roi-et and Khon kaen provinces, and the Chinese Traditional Molan’s were in Jingxi City and Debao County, Baise, Guangxi, with the interviewing of groups of experts, artists, senior scholars and audiences. The results of the research found that both art forms are local folk songs. Beginning with singing only one person from then gradually develop into pair and a story. With similar song structures introduction sections, body sections and conclusion sections. And has the characteristics of folk poetry, used specific mode of folk songs, local languages to sing.
