Study of the value of Toponyms in MuangBangkhlang, Sawankhaloke District, Sukhothai Province

Abstract

           This research aims to develop a network of community researchers, collect the data of toponyms ,examine the the toponyms in term of origins and values of toponyms concerning the geography, bio diversity and various culture of MuangBangkhlang. This qualitative research applied community-based research to collect and analyze the data.  The results showed that the developed community network was efficient to create research projects.  The data analysis of values in toponyms finds that toponyms represent the MuangBangkhlang district into two groups. Firstly, toponyms have an effect upon the geography, the bio diversities and the various cultures in the only part of it. Finally, toponyms affect the relationship between the geography, the bio diversities and the various cultures. Therefore, this study of toponyms may not only reflect the history and origin of the community, but it can also reveal the whole picture of this area and the culture of the Muangbangkhlang.
