An Analysis of Democratic Way of Life’s Reflection in Phan Wean Fah Award Short Stories B.E.2545 – 2556

Abstract

            This research aimed to analyze the democratic ways of life appearing in 152 short stories in Phan Wean Fah Award A.D.2002-2013. The result was that the authors inserted the democratic ways of life through the characters’ behaviors, namely, conversations, thoughts, and actions. The democratic way of life most frequently found was Dhamma of Reverence which represented to the respect for kings, laws, friends, including rights, liberty, and equality, which were fundamental personal rights of human beings. The second frequently found one was Dhamma of Unity which demonstrated the action that all of the people in community, society, and country collaborated homogeneously for the sake of common interest. The least appearing one was Dhamma of Wisdom which elaborated on intellectual co-consideration for solving problems and criticism without prejudice on individualism, policies, government projects, including recruitment for representatives which followed the democratic processes or patterns via elections.
