This research aimed to study the extent of success in perceiving the English initial consonant clusters and to analyze the error patterns of the perception produced by Mattayomsuksa 6 Thai students. The instrument was an eighty-two 6-choice listening test containing only pseudo-words to remove a learners’ familiarity variable. It was found that the participants failed in the perception test (37.14%).  The error patterns varied as follow: C₁ deletion (21.43%), vowel insertion (15.72%), C₂ replacement (11.42%), C₁ replacement (10.00%), and C₂ deletion (5.77%). In addition, the Contrastive Analysis Hypothesis (CAH) and the concept of L1 transfer could account for the Thai learners’ perception of the English initial consonant clusters.
