Belief of studying Business Japanese course : The case study of University of Phayao

Abstract
This paper focuses on studying the beliefs of students who have taken (group 1) and who have not (group 2) taken Business Japanese course. The students’ beliefs were captured through a questionnaire that adapted from Horwitz's questionnaire called BALLI in five factors as followed: difficulty, communication strategies, nature,motivation and expectations and aptitude. Furthermore, the data were analyzed by using statistic methods including frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation and t - test. In addition, the results showed the response frequency in percentage ranging (group 1 and group 2) from high to low. The response of “agree” represented in four factors: difficulty (85.6 and 84.2), communication strategies (80.4 and 83.4), motivation and expectations (74.6 and 78.2) and nature(70.2 and 76.2). Moreover, the response of “moderately agree” represented in aptitude (59.8 and 59.4). There is no significant difference among the response of two groups in four factors of belief questionnaire. In terms of the nature, there is a significant difference among the two groups of students.
According to the result of analysis above, most of students have a positive attitude because they can see the importance and benefits of these aspects. They believe that they can use the knowledge gained from the course to communicate and work. This belief is the most influential factor in their desire to succeed in studying this Business Japanese course.
