Academic Management Strategies According to Innovative Concepts

Abstract

This article aimed (1) to study the current and desirable conditions of academic administration; (2) to develop academic administration strategies based on innovative concepts. This was qualitative research using theoretical concepts related to management strategies and innovative theoretical concepts as the research framework. The research area was a secondary educational institution under Government Inspection Area 4, consisting of 4 provinces: Samut Songkhram, Samut Sakhon, Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan. The key informant group was 16 school administrators with outstanding performance and who passed the external quality assessment criteria in the third round, 4 from each province using purposive selection. The research instrument was qualitative research using content analysis and descriptive narrative. The research results showed that Objective 1: The results of the current condition of academic administration according to innovative concepts found that management of the curriculum, teaching and learning, teaching media, assessment work, and evaluation should focus on the participation of all sectors. Objective 2: The results of the academic administration strategy in teaching and learning found that students should be encouraged to create knowledge by themselves with a learner-centered approach. In terms of personnel development, teachers should promote out-of-the-box thinking skills by using innovative media as a development guideline. In terms of creating innovation, innovation in participatory management using the 3-D model should be used as a guideline for creating innovation. In terms of environmental analysis, there should be an analysis of the external environment that affects the development of academic work. In terms of finding guidelines, the academic strategic plan should be put into practice to create a working mechanism.
