Discipline Enhancing Model by Using Military Methods for Vocational Colleges under the Office of Vocational Education Commission, Bangkok Area

Abstract
This article aimed to 1) study the problems of learner discipline 2) study the relationship between characteristics of military leaders, motivation, morality and ethics, vocational education administration, peer group behavior, and teacher practices with learner discipline through military methods and
3) analyze and formulate a model for enhancing learner discipline through military methods in vocational colleges. This research was a mixed research method. Research field was in Bangkok. The sample group was personnel working at vocational colleges, in totaling 350 people, using the probability principle and the simple random sampling method. The key informants were personnel working at vocational colleges from government sector 9 persons and private sector 9 persons, in totaling 18 persons using purposive selection method. The instrument for collecting data was questionnaire and in-depth interview. The data of quantitative research were analyzed by mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression. Meanwhile, the data of qualitative research were analyzed by using content analysis and then described the data by using narrative thematic approach. The research results were found as follows;
1. Disciplinary problems, namely punctuality, dressing up, handling responsibility, fighting, drug abusing, breaking regulations, acting inappropriate behavior, lacking of respect for adults and not having public mind.
2. Morality and ethics, motivation, characteristics of military leaders had a causal relationship with enhancing learner discipline through military methods statistically significant at the level of 0.001, 0.01 and 0.05 respectively.
3. A model for enhancing learner discipline through military methods was comprised of 3key factors: characteristics of military leaders, motivation, and morality and ethics.
