Guidelines for the Corporate Social Responsibility Management of the Petrochemical Industry Cluster in the Eastern Special Development Zone

Abstract

The article aimed 1) To study the current situation in the corporate social responsibility management of the petrochemical industry cluster in the Eastern Special Development Zone 2) to study the organizational characteristics and industrial business management factors affecting the corporate social responsibility of the petrochemical industry, and 3) to analyze and propose guidelines for the corporate social responsibility management of the petrochemical industry cluster in the Eastern Special Development Zone. The research was both quantitative by collecting the sample data by questionnaires of 304 companies and qualitative by in-depth interviews with 17 executives from government, academics, and the private sector. The research results were found as follows;
1. Current situation in the management of corporate social responsibility of the petrochemical industry cluster found that government agencies still issue drugs to monitor and protect medical resources. Nature and environment with entrepreneurs in the private sector put their policies into practice and still lack the participation of people in the area.
2. The corporate social responsibility of the petrochemical industry clusters was different according to all aspects of organizational characteristics, consisting of type of business, registered capital, number of employees, period of operation, and location province, with the statistical significance at .05 level. The organizing, staffing, directing, and coordinating sub-factors that affected the corporate social responsibility of the petrochemical industry had a statistically significant effect at the .01 level. The planning sub-factor that affected the corporate social responsibility of the petrochemical industry had a statistically significant effect at the .05 level.
3. Guidelines for the corporate social responsibility management of the petrochemical industry cluster in the Eastern Special Development Zone consisted of (1) a proactive approach (2) a reactive approach (3) a preventive approach, and (4) a corrective approach.
