The Model of self-identity Disability for the Transformation paths to Independent Living

Abstract

The objectives of this qualitative research were 1) to study the experiential perspective on disability, 2) the identity transformation model to independent living of people with disabilities, and 3) the approach to applying the identity transformation model to independent living of people with disabilities. character towards independent living of people with disabilities The research design is qualitative research. The key informants were 9 persons with disabilities who had experienced independent living with a perspective from the disability experience. 5 executives and people with disabilities who can create a new identity for independent living The results showed that 1) people with disabilities believe that disability is a sin, leading to prejudice, making them less fortunate, leading to discrimination; 2) a pattern of transformation towards independent living for people with disabilities, consisting of 2.1) Communication model for understanding the way of life in society, counseling for rehabilitation using community-based disabilities 2.2) A model for developing potential for living in society with dignity under independent living skills training 2.3 Educational rehabilitation model, transforming homes into schools to create learning 2.4) Forms of grouping to create products. There is protection of rights to enable them to live in society with dignity. 2.5) Forms of participation of members in their education and problem solving. Join the community by exchanging information, by using a group process; 3) A work plan approach to address problems suitable for their lifestyles by raising awareness of the public mind and understanding of humanity leading to independent living of people with disabilities. Adopting a new paradigm that matters to disable people in society creating equality in society Awakening and having new ideas, creations create knowledge, understanding, change attitudes in a positive way conducive to society as a whole.
