Abstract

This study aimed to 1) to study the connotation, extension, and classification of the double-person teaching method, and investigate the implementation path and practical mode of the double-person teaching method, 2) to compare the double-person teaching method and traditional teaching method, and compare the teaching effects before and after using the double-person teaching method and 3) to study examines the effectiveness of sports learning among students at the college using the paired teaching method. A quantitative research design was employed. The sample consisted of 86 students selected through stratified convenience sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires, a sports knowledge test, a motor skill assessment, and a physical activity perception scale to evaluate students’ learning outcomes. The data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 24.0. Statistical techniques included descriptive statistics, reliability and validity analyses, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and group difference analysis.

The findings revealed that the implementation of the double-person teaching method in physical education courses was generally effective. Among its six dimensions, the task division model received the highest rating, whereas the encouragement mechanism received the lowest and requires further improvement. All six dimensions were found to have significant positive effects on students’ sports learning effectiveness, particularly in sports knowledge, sports skill mastery, and movement perception. The feedback mechanism and task division model emerged as the strongest predictors of learning effectiveness. Significant differences were also observed across student groups. Male students achieved higher learning outcomes than female students, sophomores outperformed freshmen, and students enrolled in ball sports courses demonstrated greater learning effectiveness than those participating in track and field or other sports courses. The study concludes that the double-person teaching method effectively enhances students’ sports learning. The findings provide practical implications for teachers, students, and educational institutions seeking to improve the quality of physical education...
