Public Participation in Local Administrative Organization Development in Lopburi Province

Abstract

          Public Participation in Local Administrative Organization Development in Lopburi Province, the research purposes were (1) to study the level of people's participation in Lopburi Province, (2) to analyze the principles of good governance and new public management affecting people's participation in Lopburi Province; and (3) to present the guidelines of people's participation promotion in Lopburi Province. This was the quantitative and qualitative research. The population was the people aged 18 years and over, had house registration in Lopburi Province. The quantitative research sample group was the 400 people; the research instrument was the questionnaire; the qualitative research sample group was the 20 people consisted of the 3 community leaders and 17 general people; the research instrument was the in-depth interview form. The data analysis statistics were the frequency, mean, standard deviation, multiple regression analysis, and correlation analysis.

          The research findings were

          1. the people's participation in Lopburi Province found the overall was at high level; by the descending mean were the participation in assessment, the participation in operations, the participation in receiving benefits, and the participation in decision-making, respectively;

          2. the principles of good governance and new public management affected the people's participation in Lopburi Province at statistical significance level .05

          3. should be promoted the people to participate in the evaluation in the operations processes for accuracy and fairness; to ensure that the management meet the people needs; and take into account the best interests of people should be receive.
