Factors Analysis of Decision Making to Study in Sport Management Major Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thailand National Sports University Sukhothai Campus

Abstract

          This research aims to (1) analyze the factors affecting the decision to study in Sport Management Major, Faculty of Liberal Arts, Thailand National Sports University, Sukhothai Campus; and (2) study the guidelines and suggestions for improving the admission system of Sport Management Program, Faculty of Arts, Thailand National Sports University, Sukhothai Campus. The samples were 368 upper-secondary school students in Sukhothai Educational Area, who were selected through simple random sampling technique. The tool for collecting data was questionnaire on the factors affecting students’ decision to study (Cronbach 's Alpha : 0.86). Descriptive statistics were analyzed from mean, percentage, standard deviation and Qualitative analysis

          The research results were as follows.

          1. Image of university affected the students’ decision to study at a high level ( = 4.11±0.79), followed with curriculum which was scored at a moderate ( =  3.21±0.87)  and personal reasons at a low level (  = 2.39±1.08). Overall factors were at a moderate level.

          2. Guidelines for improving the student admission system suggested that there should be clearly specific in terms of students’ needs, changes of guidance techniques to represent fields of work and experiences to be acquired after graduation, enhancing understanding with the parents of the students in the program or adjusting the curriculum to be consistent with the current labor market.
