The Effects of Using OK5R Teaching Method on Reading Comprehension Ability and Attitude towards the Teaching Method of Grade 7 Students in Schools under the Secondary Education Service Area Office Chon Buri Rayong, Rayong Province

Abstract

          The purposes of this research were: 1) compare reading comprehension ability of grade 7 students who learned under the OK5R teaching method with the counterpart ability of the students who learned under traditional instruction; and 2) to study the attitude towards the OK5R teaching method of the students.
The research instruments were 1)learning management plans for the OK5R teaching method;2)learning management plans for traditional instruction; 3) areading comprehension ability test; and 4) a scale to assess student’s attitude towards the OK5R teaching method.The population was 6,237 grade 7 students in the secondary educational service area office Chonburi Rayong. The sample was 54 grade 7 students in semester 1,2022 by using a multi-stage sampling method.The statistics for data analysis were mean, Standard Deviation, and T-test.

          The results were as follows:

          1. the reading comprehension ability of the grade 7 students who learned under the OK5R teaching method was significantly higher than the counterpart ability of the grade 7 students who learned under traditional instruction at the .01 level of statistical significance;

          2. the overall attitude toward the OK5R teaching method of the students was at the high level.
