The Development of Reading Strategies Model (SQMRS) by using mixed media to learn stories in Prachuap Khiri Khan to develop reading comprehension for grade 6 students, Thai language learning subject group

Abstract

          The purposes of this research were:1) to develop and determine the effectiveness of the Reading Strategies Model (SQMRS) by using mixed media to learn stories in Prachuap Khiri Khan to develop reading comprehension, Thai language learning subject group, 2) to compare achievement of Grade 6 student before and after studying with Reading Strategies Model (SQMRS) by using mixed media to learn stories in Prachuap Khiri Khan to develop reading comprehension, Thai language learning subject group, and 3)to study the satisfaction of grade 6 students towards Reading Strategies Model (SQMRS) by using mixed media to learn stories in Prachuap Khiri Khan to develop reading comprehension, Thai language learning subject group.The research instruments were 1) A collection of mixed media to learn stories in Prachuap Khiri Khan 2) Reading Strategies Model (SQMRS) 3) A 40-item achievement test; and 4) 20-item satisfaction questionnaire. The samples used in the study were 28 students in grade 6/2 at Thap Sakae Kindergarten, Prachuap Khiri Khan Primary Educational Service Area Office, academic year 2020, which were obtained by purposive sampling.The data were analyzed by using computer software package. The statistics used in data analysis were Percentage (P), Mean (x̄), Standard Deviation (S.D.).

The results were as follows:

1. Reading Strategies Model (SQMRS) by using mixed media for learning about stories in Prachuap Khiri Khan to develop reading comprehension of grade 6 students,  Thai language learning subject group was 83.03/82.95, which was higher than the set threshold of 80/80.
2. The results of comparison of learning achievement before and after experimenting with the Reading Strategies Model (SQMRS) by using mixed media to learn stories in Prachuap Khiri Khan to develop reading comprehension for grade 6 students,Thai language learning subject group found that the score after the experiment was significantly higher than before the experiment at the .05 level.
3. The overall assessment of the satisfaction of Grade 6 students with the Reading Strategies Model (SQMRS) by using mixed media to learn stories in Prachuap Khiri Khan to develop reading comprehension for grade 6 students, Thai language learning was at a high level of satisfaction with a mean score of 4.03.
