Abstract

Objective: To compare the opinions on using medical cannabinoids for patients with cancer between cancer patients who received chemotherapy and physicians in Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital

Design: Cross-sectional comparison study

Materials and Methods: This study was divided into three parts including the opinions on using medical cannabinoids for patients with cancer, knowledges and attitudes to compare between 207 cancer patients who received chemotherapy and 106 physicians in Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital. After that we used multiple linear regression analyses to relate between factors and the opinions.

Results: Cancer patients who received chemotherapy more agree to use medical cannabinoids for patients with cancer than physicians in Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital significantly (5.96 (±1.36) in cancer patients 3.98 (±1.70) in physicians from scores 1-7; p<0.001).

Conclusions: The opinions of cancer patients who received chemotherapy and physicians are different due to their attitudes about medical cannabinoids. Most cancer patients require to use medical cannabinoids for patients with cancer but they have little knowledge about medical cannabinoids. Among the current trend of using medical cannabinoids today providing the correct knowledge to patients is important. And the physicians should understand the patients need that there is more influence from the attitudes of the patients than knowledges.
