Abstract

This research article aimed to: 1) compare self-efficacy and basketball skills of Thailand National Sports University students within the experimental and control groups before and after training, and 2) compare self-efficacy and basketball skills of Thailand National Sports University students between the experimental and control groups before and after training. The sample consisted of 50 second-year students from two classrooms in the Faculty of Education at Thailand National Sports University, Ang Thong Campus, during the first semester of the 2025 academic year, selected through cluster sampling. The sample was divided into an experimental group of 25 students and a control group of 25 students. The research instruments included a self-efficacy enhancement model, which was validated by experts (IOC = 0.80 - 1.00), with accuracy and appropriateness evaluated using the median (Md = 5.00) and interquartile range (IQR = 0.00 - 1.00). The evaluation instruments comprised a self-efficacy scale and a basketball skills test, both of which achieved an Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) between 0.80 and 1.00. Data were analyzed using mean ( ), standard deviation (S.D.) and t-tests. The results indicated that. After the experiment, the experimental group showed significantly higher levels of overall self-efficacy and its specific domains (Modeling, Goal Setting, Positive Self-Talk, and Success Imagery) compared to before the experiment at the .05 significance level (equation = 4.47, S.D. = 0.30) A comparison between groups revealed that after the experiment, the experimental group achieved significantly higher levels of self-efficacy and basketball skills (Dribbling, Passing, Shooting, and Defense) than the control group at the .05 significance level, whereas no significant differences were found between the two groups prior to the experiment.
