CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT FOR CAREER PROMOTION IN ORNAMENTAL FISH KEEPING FOR THIRD-YEAR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) Develop a career-promoting curriculum on ornamental fish farming for Grade 9 students, 2) Compare students’ learning achievement before and after instruction, 3) Compare students’ ornamental fish farming skills against the 75 percent criterion, and 4) Examine students’ satisfaction with the learning management. The target group for interviews consisted of one ornamental fish farming expert, one school administrator, and one teacher in the Career and Technology Learning Area, totaling three participants. The sample group consisted of 40 Mathayom 3/2 (Grade 9/2) students in Semester 2, Academic Year 2025, at Pathong Wittayamulnithi School, Songkhla Province, selected by simple random sampling using a lottery method. The research instruments included a career-promoting curriculum, an achievement test, a skills assessment form, and a satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, dependent samples t-test, and one-sample t-test against a criterion. The results showed that the developed curriculum comprised objectives, learning experiences, instructional management, and evaluation. The curriculum quality was at the highest level, with mean scores of 4.86 for validity and 4.89 for appropriateness. Students’ post-test achievement was significantly higher than pre-test at the .05 level, and their skills were significantly higher than the 75 percent criterion at the .05 level. Overall student satisfaction with the learning management was at the highest level, with a mean score of 4.53.
