THE DEVELOPMENT OF A JUNIOR TOUR GUIDE CURRICULUM BASED ON HOT SPRING PARK IN WANG HIN SUB-DISTRICT, BANG KHAN DISTRICT, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE, FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

This research aims to 1) Study the foundational data regarding the development of a junior tour guide curriculum for the Hot Spring Park in Wang Hin Sub-district, Bang Khan District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province for primary school students; 2) Develop the junior tour guide curriculum; 3) Compare the students' junior tour guide skills against the 70% criterion; and 4) Examine students' satisfaction towards the instructional management. The sample consisted of 30 primary school students from Thairath Wittaya 38 (Ban Bo Nam Ron) School and Ban Suan School, obtained through stratified random sampling. The research instruments included an interview form, the junior tour guide curriculum, a junior tour guide skills assessment form, and a satisfaction evaluation form. Data collection was carried out in three research phases. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and a one-sample t-test. The research findings revealed that The foundational data concerning the development of the junior tour guide curriculum for the Hot Spring Park in Wang Hin Sub-district, Bang Khan District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province for primary school students indicated that the park is a valuable local learning resource encompassing history, culture, and community beliefs, while also reflecting local wisdom and sustainable shared resource management. This information can appropriately serve as a foundation for developing a curriculum that aligns with the context of both learners and the community.The development of the junior tour guide curriculum was systematically conducted through 7steps, covering key curriculum components and aligning with the learners' and community's context.The students' post-learning junior tour guide skills for the Hot Spring Park yielded an average score of 87.04%, which was statistically higher than the 70% criterion at the .05 significance level.The students' satisfaction towards the junior tour guide instructional management for the Hot Spring Park was at a high level (  = 4.18, S.D. = 0.10).
