CITIZEN GUIDELINES ACROSS THE ONLINE FRAUD CASE CYCLE
Main Article Content
Abstract
The severity of online fraud is increasing, resulting in the citizens’ assets and lives destruction. Research article aimed to develop operational guidelines for managing online fraud cases throughout the entire supply chain (before, during, and after the incident) for the public in Nonthaburi Province. The study utilized a research and development methodology. Specific informants were chosen from community leaders in Suan Yai, Talat Khwan, and Bang Khen subdistricts; police officers from Muang Nonthaburi Police Station; officials from the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization; and officials from the Nonthaburi Municipality, totaling 67 people. The research findings revealed that essential preventative measures against online fraud, prior to the incident, encompassed vigilance, knowledge acquisition through experience, safeguarding vulnerable groups, refraining from interaction with unfamiliar individuals, awareness of potential access to personal information, and consistently verifying the accuracy of received information. Essential processes during an incident were event reporting, timely damage mitigation and evidence management. This involved reaching out to relevant authorities or agencies to initiate actions, such as freezing accounts with financial institutions and submitting a complaint with the police either at a police station or online at thaipoliceonline.go.th. Gathering evidence for legal actions encompassed documents like monetary transfer receipts, bank account details, communication records, and images of unsealed parcels or merchandise. Post-incident protocols included instructing community members and families, obtaining feedback on products or services through social media, and establishing preventative measures or rigorous oversight of policy adherence by pertinent government agencies.
