AN ANALYSIS OF THE BUDDHIST ETHICAL VALUES OF ÃNANDA FOR DEVELOPING THAI YOUTH TODAY

Abstract

                An Analysis of the Buddhist Ethical Values of Ãnanda for Developing Thai Youth of today has objectives: 1) to study the ideas on the development of Thai youth of today, 2) to study the Buddhist ethical values of Ãnanda as appeared in Theravada Buddhist scriptures, and 3) to analyze the Buddhist ethical values of Ãnanda for developing Thai youth of today. This is a qualitative research mainly done by documentary research.

                In the research, it was found that: The ideas concerning with the development of Thai youth of today were clearly found that they are persons whose essential existence is of the utmost important to both society and nation where their development must bodily and mentally made. In doing this, the Buddhist teachings become necessary factors for being applied in their daily life in the present society. By following the Buddhist teachings they can behave in the proper manners and thereby bringing the immunity to them resulting in the good life due to reducing various problems taking place in the present time. The Buddhist ethical values of Ãnanda as appeared in Theravada Buddhist scriptures showed that they are of basic principles on gratitude, loving kindness, study – loving, humbleness, effort and generosity. And the Buddhist ethical values of Ãnanda for developing Thai youth of today were considerably found that they are of six kinds of values, gratitude, loving kindness, study – loving, humbleness, effort, and openness. In this research, the mentioned values were categorically classified as follows: bodily, mentally, socially, and traditionally and culturally ones.
