Abstract

          The purposes of this research were to study the level of participation and to suggest guidelines for public participation in waste management of Ban Mai Samakkhi, Nong Yai Sub-District, Phon Thong District, Roi Et Province. The quantitative research method was used in this study. The samples were collected from 110 public members. The data were collected from questionnaires and interviews and analyzed using descriptive statistics including percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings were as follows:

          1) The level of public participation in the overall operation was high level ( =3.58, S.D=0.61). Participation in decision-making was at a high level ( =3.52, S.D.=0.75), and participation in monitoring and evaluating was at a moderate level ( =3.30, S.D. =0.83)
          2) The suggestions for public participation in waste management were that: 1) 21 people suggested to have garbage trucks come to the community as before, representing 28.00 percent; 2) 18 people suggested to take the trash back to the community, representing 24.00 percent; and 3) 15 people suggested to have   cooperation, care, and unity, representing 20.00 percent.
