Enhancing Indigenous Chicken Farming Potential for a Complete Business
Abstract
The objectives of this research were 1) to transfer knowledge on system development. and innovations in cultivating technology and integrated indigenous chicken economic value adding; and 2) organizing lessons learned with farmers groups to find ways to upgrade the potential of raising native chickens as a comprehensive business This research is a quantitative research. and qualitative Data were collected with the target group, 50 members of the Nadi Model Native Chicken Farming Enterprise Group, using a specific sampling method. Primary characteristics data were collected by using a 5-level estimation scale questionnaire and a structured interview form. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, percentage values and content analysis.
The results of the research revealed that the transfer of knowledge in system development and innovations in cultivating technology and comprehensive value-adding of native chickens' economics. It was found that the body of knowledge that could be transferred to farmers included: (1) knowledge about the development of cultivating potential and development of native chickens for business; Native chicken farming system (2) Knowledge of native chicken feed production to reduce costs “Yeast fermented cassava pulp” and (3) knowledge on marketing model development for promoting sales of live chicken, slaughtered fresh chicken, and processed food products from local chicken meat.
The results of a study on the opinion level of farmers from participating in system development activities and transferring innovations in native chicken production technology to add integrated commercial value in the square area Chaiyaphum Province found that farmers were satisfied with participating in the activities. Satisfaction at the highest level in all aspects The aspect that farmers were most satisfied with was 4.98 in 2 aspects, namely the knowledge transfer process. and lecturers has an average of 4.98
The results of taking lessons together with farmers groups to find ways to upgrade the potential of cultivating native chickens in a comprehensive business found that in the initial stage, farmers in the Ban Mai Nadi Model Native Chicken Enterprise who come as members do not have confidence that they can raise and sell chickens for real income Because the former occupation was agriculture, planting potatoes, sugarcane and rice, farmers saw it as a challenge.
