A Guideline for Development of Characteristics of Council Members in Sakaeo Municipality, Sakaeo Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the characteristics of members of the municipal council according to the people’ opinions in Sakaeo Municipality and 2) to compare the people’ attitudes towards the characteristics of members of the municipal council in Sakaeo Municipality, Sakaeo Province as classified by gender, age, education and income. The sample size was 389 people who had the right to vote in an election. The results of the research showed that the opinions on the guidelines for the development of the characteristics of members of the municipal council according to the people’ opinions were at the highest level in overall. When considering each aspect, it was found that leadership and ethics were in the highest level. While personality, the ability to work and new age management was in a high level respectively. There was no difference in the characteristics of members of the municipal council in terms of gender, age, education and income.
