Abstract

Background and Aims: Soft skills are crucial 21st-century skills that impact academic and professional success, particularly communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving skills. However, university students still face limitations in these skills, making it necessary to develop appropriate learning activities that align with the current digital context. This study aimed to design and develop online teamwork activities to promote 21st-century soft skills among students at Surin Rajabhat University and to examine the effects of these activities on students' soft skill development.

Methodology: The research was divided into two phases: (1) designing and developing online teamwork activities by reviewing relevant documents and research, and interviewing experts to determine the activity components; and (2) studying the effects of the activities with a sample group of 40 first-year students from Surin Rajabhat University, selected using simple random sampling. The research instruments included the online teamwork activities and a soft skills assessment form. Data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The effectiveness was determined using the 75/75 criterion and a paired samples t-test.

Results: The activity design consisted of eight components: activity-supporting technology, training methods, the role of the instructor or activity supervisor, student participation and interaction, evaluation and feedback, student support services, flexibility and accessibility, and quality assessment. The developed activity had an effectiveness of 79.21/82.96, exceeding the set criterion. Furthermore, students' soft skill scores after training were significantly higher than before training at the .05 statistical significance level, both overall and in individual aspects, including communication skills, teamwork skills, time management skills, and problem-solving skills.

Conclusion: The developed online teamwork activity is effective and can effectively promote 21st-century soft skills among students at Surin Rajabhat University. Therefore, it can be applied in higher education learning management to develop skills necessary for future learning and work.
