Abstract

Background and Aims: Rapid economic and industrial development has contributed to environmental degradation and unsustainable use of natural resources, particularly in communities located near industrial zones. Promoting sustainability-oriented lifestyles among residents is therefore essential to achieving environmentally sustainable development. This study aimed to (1) examine the level of sustainability-oriented lifestyles related to environmental sustainability among residents of the Rojana Community, Khan Ham Subdistrict, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, and (2) compare these lifestyles according to personal factors.

Methodology: This research employed a quantitative research design. The sample consisted of 378 residents aged 18 years and above living in the Rojana Community. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with a five-point rating scale. Statistical analyses included frequencies, percentages, means, standard deviations, and one-way ANOVA, with a significance level of .05.

Results: The findings revealed that the overall level of sustainability-oriented lifestyles related to environmental sustainability was high. Among the dimensions, access to affordable and sustainable modern energy received the highest mean score, followed by marine ecosystem conservation, access to clean water and sanitation, terrestrial ecosystem conservation, climate change adaptation, and sustainable consumption and production. Comparisons by personal factors showed statistically significant differences in environmental sustainability lifestyles by gender, education level, marital status, occupation, and income, whereas age showed no significant differences.

Conclusion: The study highlights that residents of the Rojana Community demonstrate a strong awareness of environmentally sustainable lifestyles. The findings emphasize the interconnectedness between humans and ecosystems and underscore the importance of conserving natural resources while promoting clean, safe, and environmentally friendly technologies. These insights can serve as a guideline for policymakers and local stakeholders to strengthen community participation in sustainable environmental development.
